The Black Duck is in a beautiful setting in a tiny unspoilt village opposite the church. If the church is locked, the landlord of the pub will open it up for you. The decor is really nice and modern, with interesting objects hanging from the walls - musical instruments, old tools etc, and some amusing pictures.
Best things to do & days out in warbleton, east sussex
The owners are very friendly and welcoming. The food was just what I hoped for - a really good Brie and bacon focaccia and very good chunky chips that had been cooked in duck fat naturally. I will certainly return. I've been to the black duck a few times and have seen a recurring theme. The food here is great, not the best pub food I've have in my life but certainly far from the worst. The atmosphere is wonderful and the setting is gorgeous, inside is tastefully decorated and the menu has lots on offer. So, why only 'very good' and not 'excellent', it all comes down to the speed of delivery of the food.
I have found that although the meals are very good, the time between courses is often too long, and this is coming from someone who enjoys the chance to talk when having a meal out. Overall, I'd say the black duck is a very scenic pub with great views and great food, but be prepared to sit around a bit for the meal! If you want nice food and an good old fashioned log fire - Love in warbleton even in May well the Black Dog doesn't disappoint.
I would also go further the decor is modern and tastefully decorated. Our party of 4 ordered a selection of Love in warbleton, fish and the Hoisin Duck. My steak was OK and ample portions. The duck disappointed though and was very tough and not really as advertised the nearest it had been to China was Heathfield at a push.
The spicy rice pudding was very tasty and was the highlight and the coffee was good. Friendly service added to an OK experience. Average I'd say and slightly disappointed.
Although fully booked, found a table for me. So went back next night. Nicely prepared food.
Lovely views from garden. Lovely setting, lovely interior, felt friendly as soon as we walked in. Extensive menu, the specials board was great as was the main menu. I ordered the duck with the celeriac rosti - wow! It was so tasty. The Love in warbleton were well cooked and the service was great. We were all really happy with everything we had ordered. Will definitely be going back. Own or manage this property? Claim your listing for free to respond to reviews, update your profile and much more.

We have fresh fish, meat and groceries delivered daily. We do not want to be thought of as a gastro pub because that is not what we are trying to be and our prices prove this. Our food is wholesome and hearty, home cooked traditional pub food. Because we are so busy we are able to offer an extensive menu which is consistently fresh.
